Well as a local let me tell you,  Etty Bay just south of Innisfail is your best chance.

This secret  that I and all the locals know.  The best place to see a Cassowary in the wild is Etty Bay late in the afternoon. While Etty Bay is a great place to take the kids to cool off on a hot summers day with  safe swimming nets and lots of shade from midday thanks to the large trees along the foreshore.

You are almost guaranteed to see a Cassowary take a late afternoon stroll along the beach.  They may even hassle you for some of the fish and chips you are having for a early evening tea.

And if you are there at the right time of the year you may even get to see a dad take his chick for a walk along the beach also.  Yes the dad Cassowary looks after the chicks once the mum has laid the eggs.

There is nothing like seeing this majestic bird in its natural surrounds going about his day. The only way to see wildlife.

As you can see Cassowary and people share this lovely beach with very little problem.
